NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969, in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. Today, NSS has more than 3.2 million student volunteers on its roll spread over 298 Universities and 42 (+2) Senior Secondary Councils and Directorate of Vocational Education all over the country. From its inception, more than 3.75 crores students from Universities, Colleges and Institutions of higher learning have benefited from the NSS activities, as student volunteers.
OUR COLLEGE HAS TWO UNITS OF NSS VOLUNTEERS HEADED BY Smt. GOWRI S BHAT ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN COMMERCE AND Sri. YOGESH D H , ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ENGLISH.
BOTH THE UNITS ORGANISE ORIENTATION COURSES TO NSS VOLUNTEERS AT THE BEGINING OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR AND ALSO CONDUCT ONEDAY CAMPS, ANNUAL CAMPS AT DIFFERENT LOCALITIES. OTHER THAN THESE PROGRAMS IT ALSO ORGANISES BLOOD DONATON CAMPS, SHRAMADAAN, DISASTER MANAGEMENT, PLANTATION, ADVENTURE PROGRAMS, PARTICIPATION IN RALLYS, HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMS ETC.

Sports today is an integral part of the all round development of the human personality and achieving excellence in sports has great bearing on national prestige and morale. In order to meet the increasing demands of the changing scenario, national as well as international, our college has taken it upon itself to implement programs to promote excellence in sports. Through its sports promotional schemes, SAI supports and nurtures talent in youth, and provides them with requisite infrastructure, equipment, coaching facilities and competition exposure.
we have a very good sports facility in our college. play ground attached to college campus is being renovated using UGC grants. already badminton courts, villeyball courts and tennis courts have been constructed using UGC Grants. Multijim facility is provided for both boys and girl students free of cost. treadmill, cycle,powerlifting,weightlifting facilities are also available.

Historically, the five main fine arts were painting, sculpture, architecture, music and poetry, with performing arts including theater and dance. Today, the fine arts commonly include additional forms, such as film, photography, conceptual art, andprintmaking. However, in some institutes of learning or in museums, fine art and frequently the term fine arts as well, are associated exclusively with visual art forms.
MRmr. Chandranatha bajegoli, an Artist is trains our college students in fine arts and performing arts. students participate in various intercollegiate and university level competetions and bagged many prices and awards.

ROVERS AND RANGERS
COMMERCE & MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION

The college students are benefitted by the activities of the Commerce and Management Association. Sri Krishna Bhat, Associate Professor in commerce, is the convenor of the association. The convenor is assisted by a team comprising of a secretary and joint secretaries (final year degree students) and one representative from each class. The association conducts college level seminar for the benefit of the students. One team comprising of 5/6 students from each class is assigned with the task of presentation of seminar topic on any commerce/management related subject. The team presents the topic, later discussions are held. This exercise trains the students in preparing/presenting seminar papers and participation in discussions which will improve their communication skills.
Guest lectures on various topics are conducted to enrich the knowledge of the students by inviting eminent resource persons.



YAKSHAGANA SANGHA

The college has started Yakshagana Sanga during the year 2012. Sri Krishna Bhat, Associate Professor in commerce, is the convenor of the association. The convenor is assisted by a secretary and a joint secretary. Under the banner of this association training is given to the interested students of the college in Yakshgana dance art. Sri Mahaveera Pandi Kanthavara, a renowned yakshgana artist, trains he students of the college in yakshgana dance. Yakshgana Sangha present yakshgana play during college day celebrations. The students are given free training and the honorarium of the trainer is sponsored by “Yakhakalaranga” Karkala, an association exclusively established for the purpose of encouraging the development of yakshgana art.

CAREER AND COUNSELLING CELL

The college has an active Career and Counselling cell. Krishna Bhat, Associate Professor in Commerce is the convenor of the cell. The convenor is assisted by a team comprising of a secretary and joint secretaries (final year degree students) and one representative from each class. The convenor of the cell possesses Post Graduate Diploma in Career Counselling and he was also trained at Infosys Leadership and Training Centre, Hebbala, Mysore, on Global Skill Enhancement. As a resource person he has trained/oriented hundreds of students of different colleges on career planning.
The various activities of the cell run like this:

Daily announcement of advertisement/news on various job opportunities/vacancies in various private/public sector undertakings.

Regular classes conducted by the convenor (twice in a week) on soft skills, development of communication skills, employment information, higher education opportunities etc. In these classes the convenor conducts case studies/Group Discussions/Management Games/Discussion on current affairs etc. so as to develop the soft skills and communication skills of the students.

Participants of the cell are also trained on New Product Development where in students are divided in to different groups and each group has to develop a new product which is not existing in the market present it and discussions are held.

A separate career guidance library is functioning where books on competitive examinations, career planning etc are available and students are issued with the books twice in a week.

The convenor educates the students on higher education opportunities and employment opportunities.

Industrial visit is conducted to give practical knowledge to the students on functioning of industries/business houses.

Workshops on various topics like preparation for competitive examinations, resume preparation, self employment, career opportunities etc are conducted.

Guest lectures on topics concerning career planning are conducted by inviting expert resource persons from various fields.
