The college is situated in semi urban area of Karkala Taluk and has a convenient building of its own. The campus area is about 7.42 acres and the existing building has principals chamber, staff room, ladies rest room, auditorium, office room, library and a computer lab on the ground floor.
Two new class rooms have been constructed for Post Graduate students on the first floor in the year 2012.
The college added five rooms on the first floor in the year 2008-09 at a cost of Rs.32 Lakhs.
Under the UGC grant of Rs. 17 Lakhs and Govt. of Karnataka Grants of Rs. 100 Lakhs, the construction work of new class rooms and ladies rest rooms is going on in full swing on the first floor of the building and toilets for boys at a cost of Rs. 5 Lakhs.

History of the College
The Govt. First Grade College, Karkala, was established on 25th July 1991. The college was renamed as Manjunatha Pai Memorial Govt. First Grade College of Professional and Business Management, Karkala, in November 1992.
Initially the college was housed in the Govt. PU College building and was later shifted to the present own existing premises on 28th Dec. 1998. This college, assessed and accredited by NAAC in August 2004 with C++ Grade (68.5%) and got recognition under section 2(f) 12(B) of the UGC Act on 26-06-2008.The college was Reaccredited by NAAC in January 2011 at B Grade with CGPA of 2.5/4.
This Mangalore and Udupi region of the State, is known in the country for its commercial activities and has given birth to a number of Banks, Educational Institutions and renowned Business and Industrial establishments. Keeping this in mind, the college was established exclusively for giving education in Commerce and Management. At present the college is offering 3 years BBM and B.Com. degree course and also Post Graduate course in Commerce.( M.Com.) 1047 students are pursuing education in the college in the Academic year 2014-15

This college is known for its quality education, which is evident from the results, ranks and established goodwill in and around Karkala. This has been possible because of the dedication, commitment, co-operation and tireless efforts of the staff and the students. In fact, the most friendly and cordial relation among the stakeholders is the best practice prevailing in the college and the biggest secret of our success in whatever we do.
This co education college, affiliated to Mangalore University, is presently running three year BBM degree course and 3 year B.Com. Degree course. B.Com. course was started in the year 2009-10, and Post graduate course in commerce( M.Com.) in 2011-12 The strength of the college which was 28 in 1991-92, reached 1047 in 2014-15. comprising 558 BBM Students and 370 B.Com. students and 119 M.Com. students 389 boys and 658 girls.
In April/May 2014 BBM degree examinations, the college secured a result of 93.42% in BBM and 87.5% in B.Com.. Average result of BBM, during the last 6 years is about 88%. After the last assessment in 2004, the college secured 14 ranks in the university examinations. totaly the college has bagged 15 ranks so far from 2003-2014. The college secured 7 ranks during the last three years and this has further elevated the status of the college to still greater heights, as no other Govt. College in this University has secured any rank in BBM so far.
